Cloud Migration Excellence: Oracle Database Transformation
RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST)
Challenge
RWE's Supply and Trading division needed to move over 20 mission-critical Oracle databases into the cloud as part of its 'Lead in Cloud' initiative. The existing process was manual, time-consuming and error-prone, tethered to costly on-prem licenses and data-center overhead—and required a dedicated support team in India to keep it running.
Solution
Thriveways created a fully automated migration framework that handled every step—from spinning up target environments to syncing data—without manual intervention. By designing parallel migration streams, we cut the time each database was offline. Throughout, we worked hand-in-hand with RWE's application teams to plan and execute cut-overs that finished flawlessly, ensuring zero data loss and uninterrupted service.
Key Results
- ✓50% faster migrations, dramatically reducing downtime and accelerating delivery timelines
- ✓Major cost savings by retiring over 100 Oracle licenses and decommissioning data-center hardware
- ✓Eliminated offshore support team dependency
- ✓Up to 40% performance boost in database and application response times
- ✓Minimal maintenance burden with self-service, cloud-native platform

Self-Service Streaming Platform: Kafka Infrastructure Revolution
Uniper
Challenge
Uniper's teams spent too much time maintaining Kafka clusters and wiring up streams. Creating new topics and updating schemas was slow and confusing, credentials were shared insecurely, and deployments ran through ad-hoc pipelines—resulting in frequent mistakes and delays.
Solution
Thriveways built a self-service streaming platform on Confluent Cloud that let developers provision clusters, topics and schemas in minutes via simple, automated pipelines, securely manage credentials with automatic key rotation, monitor performance with ready-made dashboards, and follow 'golden paths' for common tasks, cutting out guesswork.
Key Results
- ✓New services launched in under 10 minutes instead of days
- ✓Onboarding time shrank from days to under 30 minutes
- ✓Zero credential mishaps after rolling out automated key rotation
- ✓Faster issue detection and resolution, boosting overall reliability
- ✓Delivery cadence doubled, accelerating feature releases and time-to-market
- ✓Phase 2 initiated: plug-and-play data connectors and scalable compute pools

Battery Energy Storage Systems: Market Integration & Automation
Leading Energy Storage Provider
Challenge
At the beginning of 2024, the company's software architecture was relatively small and not yet equipped to support full integration with U.S. wholesale energy markets. This created constraints in trading operations, market compliance, and the ability to scale efficiently as the BESS fleet expanded.
Solution
By the end of 2025, Thriveways delivered a comprehensive backend modernization. Legacy services were retired, market and telemetry data ingestion was unified, and the full lifecycle of trade and order processing was automated. We also evolved the internal trading platform into a modular, market-agnostic system capable of rapidly onboarding new battery sites and market products across ERCOT and ISO New England.
Key Results
- ✓Operationalized 4 new BESS sites in Texas, enabling participation in both financial and non-financial products across real-time and day-ahead markets—revenue impact exceeding tens of millions by late 2025
- ✓Successfully transitioned ERCOT market integration to new RTC+B requirements one month ahead of schedule
- ✓Enabled 2 ISO New England sites, each integrated in ~1 month once cleared for commercial operation
- ✓Expanded market coverage by supporting 5 additional trading products in ISO New England
- ✓Achieved full 24/7 automated trade ingestion and submission, eliminating manual intervention
- ✓Reduced software-related downtime and trading errors by over 80%
